"I find your family quite interesting without the added scenery," she laughed lightly, Miguel deciding that he not only liked her, he liked her laugh. High, carefree, spontaneous.

She continued, "Speaking of scenery, what do you grow here?"

"Pineapples," he eased out. "They are ideal for this region. They require little water, and the soil is very fertile here. We produce the Red Spanish variety which is not as sweet as some of the pineapples in America. Would you enjoy seeing the operation one day?"

She nodded and he continued, "There are many pineapple farms in the area. The gulf coastal plain and the adjacent highlands make their growth an almost perfect one. Of course, we are among the largest operations in the area, almost one-hundred and fifty thousand acres."

"Goodness! I can't even imagine that many acres. You must employ many workers."
