" Since I tossed a penny into that wishing well last evening and my schedule completely freed up, allowing me to join Tyler at the beach house sooner than planned. Won't he be surprised?" she spilled out, gazing up at him, her eyes sparkling because she was so happy.

Kit set the coffee cup onto an empty spot on the table where Silver's map was spread-eagle, then he settled into one of the wooden chairs.

He realized that it was useless, trying to talk her out of this madness.

It wasn't that he didn't want her to go to Mexico - she'd planned the getaway with her fiancé, Tyler for months now, since the day she'd been chosen to speak at the seminar in Mexico regarding her medical advancements in surgical laser procedures. After a two week vacation, they would attend the seminar in Mexico City, then head home. And while they were in Mexico, Silver had insisted upon delivering the pearl ensemble to his good friend, Antonio DeAigo - a wedding gift for a future sister-in-law.

Silver was quickly becoming a well-known expert in her field, and in his opinion, she was perhaps the best surgeon in the world. Of course, he was a bit prejudiced seeing as how he'd raised her.

Even though he didn't approve of Tyler as a future son-in-law, the central reason he didn't want her traveling by car was due to the value of the pearls.

He glanced up at her as she touched his hand, saying, " Kit, thank you again for letting us use the beach house in Veracruz. And thank you for allowing Tyler to make use of it until I was able to join him."
