The light breeze of the hot wind felt cool against their wet bodies.  The clouds had been torn from the sky, stripped and carried away by the gulf winds.

Miguel's glance was fixed on the unmarked trail ahead of them as he assured her, "We will be there soon, querido."

His white teeth flashed against his bronzed skin as he spoke to her and she had never considered him more handsome.

Today he was wearing a brown khaki top and pants, and he had fastened an olive-hue neckerchief about his broad neck.  

She had dressed along the same order in fawn-colored slacks and an ivory top, Miguel advising her to dress comfortably for the rugged day ahead.


She had envisioned mountain climbing, even a water sport, but nothing as imaginative as this adventure.

They also wore sunglasses and cumbersome felt hats which seemed to hold in more heat than offer an effective shield against the harsh sun.

They traveled another half hour through peaks and valleys, the top of a volcano visible in the distance, causing Silver to gasp in wonderment as she'd never seen anything like it before.
