Silver felt uncomfortable as Carmen's situation hit close to her own glass house due to her desires for Miguel. However; there was a big difference. Carmen was a married woman and where marriage was concerned, there was high standard of honor. However, Silver wasn't excusing her own actions so quickly as she was overwhelmed with her own raw feelings of guilt.

"I understand," she managed, partially due to her personal thoughts and partially due to her respect for Miguel's mother. "The secret dies with me," Silver assured, "as I have no desire to hurt anyone, either. And also, I do not wish to become involved. This is between you and Juan."

Carmen relaxed, holding her hands to cover her face as she began to cry.

Silver went to her and settled her into one of the comfortable chairs situated by the window, then went to collect a box of tissues threaded into a gold container.

"Please, Carmen, do not cry," Silver sympathized as the scene brought back her conversation with Conchita.

It couldn't have been easy for Carmen, pawned off from one man to the next in one cruel move after another only to financially benefit two old fossils who continued to rule from the grave.

"You do not understand," Carmen eased out, crying so hard now that she was shaking and Silver was barely able to understand her.

She quickly collected a cool cloth from the bath and pressed it to Carmen's head, telling her, "There, there. It will be okay."
