"Is this the special place you were referring to?" Silver questioned lazily, pulling Miguel from his troubling thoughts.

"No, this is not the place, either. I will take you there soon," he assured in a deep tone. "I realize your stay at the hacienda grows shorter with each passing day."

He quickly set that thought aside because it troubled him.

They exited the lagoon and tossed out a couple of beach towels, then plopped down, Silver slowly becoming warm and relaxed. And soon, amid the peaceful sounds of the sea as the black waves coasted against the beach and licked the sleeping sand, she too drifted off in peaceful slumber.

The squawk of a white gull awakened her and she blinked open her eyes, her body still and trying to adjust to the unfamiliar surroundings.

A horseshoe crab meandered along the beach a few feet from her and she raised up, momentarily startled.

Miguel was laying on his side, his head propped up by one hand, his elbow bent and pressed into the towel that was cushioned by the wet sand.
