Although she loved the countless mesas, the Indian pueblos scattered heavily about, and the mild climate, something was missing. She needed her freedom so she could find that something.

Her eyes critically assessed the silver dress again, her thoughts returning to her rendezvous with Colt McClintock, a meeting that she was dreading. He made her feel as though he'd drug her through a poison ivy patch. And her visit wasn't going to accomplish anything; he was intent on speaking with her five brothers. This was merely going to be a repeat of yesterday's fiasco.

Lifting her chin, she contemplated that perhaps the shiny silver dress might blind him, and that thought suited her perfectly. He had been far too smug and high-handed for her liking, his attitude reminding her of the overly confident Fab.

When she entered the living room, Grandpa and Floyd were watching Saturday morning cartoons, both completely captivated. Frank and the others were out tending the mesas as the foul weather had lifted.

"I'm ready," she told Floyd impatiently.
