SUDDEN THUNDER, a Short Love Story - Page 4 “You’re a doctor?” “Technically speaking, no,” she softly laughed. “However, my brother Dustin is quite a good doctor.” Confused he plied, “He lives in the area?’ “Yes indeed. Actually, we share the same house,” she drawled, swerving slightly to miss the ditch in the road - which was actually more of a trail than a road. “Then…well, shouldn’t he be doing this?” “He can’t do two things at once, Kirk,” she eased out, just remembering his name. “There was a shooting at Avery Stone’s place-” “Good God,” he eased out, his face stricken with awe. “It’s quite common here,” she went on to assure. The dirt road scissored and she veered to the left, the giant cypress trees cutting out the sunlight. “So you are headed to Shreveport?” she asked, trying to keep the conversation flowing.
