Solitary Cowboy, a Short Love Story by American Author Sky Taylor - Page 1
Cassidy Ryan entered the confessional and examined the tight surroundings.
As she knelt in front of a small grille which was similar to a screen, she made out the priest sitting opposite, his head slightly tilted against the grille as if he were on the verge of a good sleep. Upon further examination, she realized that he was deeply engrossed in Sandman territory. Her assumption had been verified when he emitted a ragged snore.
She almost decided not to wake him. And he was awfully still, other than the labored snoring. Good grief, she hoped he hadn't died and gone to heaven....
"Ahem," she managed and the lifeless figure stirred to life.
"Bless me father for I have sinned," Cassidy managed, hoping that she was doing this correctly. She'd never been in a confessional before, but she was quite sure this was the proper course to confession. She'd seen it play out numerous times in movies.
It was only a sense of dire guilt that had driven her into the church to ask forgiveness on this snowy, stormy day.....
"How long since your last confession, my child?" the priest asked, Cassidy noting that his voice sounded old and tired - or perhaps he was struggling to fully wake up, she decided.
"Er...this is my first," she hesitantly acknowledged. "I'm Baptist," she tacked on in a shaky voice.
