The
Haunted Lighthouse by Sky Taylor
- Page 8
Instantly,
she moved to him and cooed, "Oh
Cooper, there's nothing to be frightened
about. There, there," she told
him, patting his hand with one of
her own.
Sly
devil woman, he silently mocked.
Obviously, she'd figured the light
out and in the process had painted
him into a corner. Now what?
Drawing
up her hand he challenged, "Why
Dawn, I didn't know that you cared."
He
bent and kissed the top of her hand
and for an instant she was locked
in shock. When she recovered, she
pulled her hand from his and marched
back over to her spot by the rounded
wall.
"Worm,"
she mocked and Cooper laughed at
her loose comment.
His
advance on her had made her self-conscious
and she felt a need to check her
make-up. There had been something
lodged in his soul that she'd glimpsed
during the special moment and she
had a suspicion that he fancied
her.
A
secluded lighthouse, a dark night,
flickering candles - a cozy setting
for romance. Perhaps it was time
they put their differences behind
them.
