The
Haunted Lighthouse by Sky Taylor
- Page 1
The lighthouse
was ancient, rising forever into
the black sky. There was no moon
tonight, lending a haunting chill
to the already tense atmosphere,
Dawn suddenly longing for the warmth
of her cozy Victorian.
Being
a reporter certainly had its ups
and downs, the lighthouse assignment
no exception. A haunted lighthouse
at that - at least, according to
the locals. And what rotten luck,
getting stuck with Cooper on the
assignment - a too-serious hotshot
with a chip on his shoulder. Ever
since she'd nailed the scoop on
the diamond theft, Cooper had held
a vendetta against her.
Well,
tough T-bone. She had only proven
that she could be as aggressive
a reporter as he. Nothing wrong with
that. So what if he had distanced
himself from her.
Ironically,
there was a time when she had believed
there was something between them
- a spark ready to ignite into a
huge bonfire of lusty passion. But not anymore -
at least, not since the diamond
scoop.
Through
the candlelight, Cooper eyed the
thoughtful-looking Dawn with deep
blue eyes, wondering what was going
through her scattered brain. Probably
plotting on how she might conjure
up another great storyline - just
as she had with the diamond
theft incident. Pure luck at that.
