Nick leaned over and whispered in
a deep tone, "Then we won't tell him."
"Oh- but I couldn't dare touch
any alcohol," she assured, running behind Nick's tall form as he exited
the truck and headed towards the bed to retrieve their supper.
"Just think of it as communion,"
he countered as he heard her rustling behind him.
"Now is not the time to be
using blasphemy-"
Well, I hope that you're not thirsty
- and that you don't get choked on the cheese because that's all that we have,"
he informed as he grabbed up a brown bag he'd purchased from the market and
thrust it into Fayne's arms, her face looking at bit shocked in the process.
Then he turned and grabbed the remaining two and headed to a cleared section
in the ditch - thanks to Fayne's wild turn at the wheel. The front bumper of
the car had graded the area smoother than a bulldozer.
