Three weeks passed. Bianca's leg was on the mend and she was finally able to manage driving again. The foreman, Jake North, had found the ranch a new jeep for a cheap price and although it was an ungodly shade of pink, things were slowly getting back to normal. Her crutches had been discarded a week ago and Bianca was impatient to take back the reins of Calico Blue. It wasn't that Jake was inefficient but there had been things that Bianca and her father had been hesitant to approve without firsthand knowledge.
Mitzi was laying on the couch absorbed in a recent issue of a popular bridal magazine and a box of chocolates with nut centers. Dale Lancer had sent them with a get well note attached for Bianca but when she had angrily tossed them aside Mitzi had eagerly claimed them. At Bianca's sudden appearance her sister lifted her head off the sofa and plied, "Going somewhere? But my, you do look spiffy," she continued, eyeing the white cotton slacks and ebony top stamped with mockingbirds. Some of their beaks were open and that perturbed Mitzi for some reason but other than that it was refreshing to see her sister dressed in normal clothes for a change. It had been a long three weeks and Bianca wasn't the best patient. Bianca straightened the waist of the pants and informed, "I'm off to town. There are supplies to gather and I have a meeting with that idiot, Cabe Brown."
