Bianca flicked her eyes over the watch, tensing her mouth impatiently. Obviously Mr. Brown had charmed this woman - perhaps had even given her the watch she tacked onto her wild thoughts.

Her eyes flew to the walnut-veneer plaque on the desk identifying the woman as Ova Teen. Hum, obviously the woman's namesake was a breakfast beverage Bianca silently mocked. Hardly worth the effort of getting worked up over. Best to save that for Mr. Cabe Brown.

She decided to ignore Ova as best as she could, heading through an arch that led into Mr. Thompson's office. Being timely had never been one of her better attributes. Besides, it had taken longer dressing than she had calculated, her leg not as cooperative as before the accident.

As she entered the room an older man was seated behind a marble-topped desk, his face ripped of patience. Jed Thompson. She remembered the insurance agent very well, even though her father had handled most of the business dealing with the ranch back then.

Bianca jerked back as Cabe Brown stood from nowhere and shouted into her face, " What kept ya!! Christmas?"

Bianca swiftly recovered, tensing her pink lips as she glared into Cabe's gnarled face, mere inches away. He smelled faintly like a dog and she remembered his companion, Digger, whom he had spoken of at the site of the accident. Or perhaps her own jeep was in more rank condition than she had first considered she silently fretted, eyeing the wild-looking man.

Only last week Mitzi had informed her that Digger was a puppy from one of Buddy's fiascoes. It figured. That sneaky little dog did like to roam. And Buddy was as wild and cranky as the troll before her.
