Not wanting to disturb the house, she worked by the small light under the top cabinets. Her worst fear for the moment was an impromptu appearance from Wellington as she surmised that he might be less than happy over her intrusion into his kitchen, even though his reaction would be a wooden one.

She had only ripped off a few bites of her rather large sandwich when she froze, a shadow capturing her attention beyond the glass doors leading from the kitchen to a greenhouse-like area, possibly where Wellington grew and stored his fresh herbs - but there was no time to contemplate things of this nature.

Stuart's comments regarding intruders suddenly flashed through her mind and Karina realized that she had awoken and fallen right into a trap. If the shadow belonged to one of the Donavan's, or Wellington, they wouldn't be hiding in the shadows, she went on to surmise, quite terrified - the last bite of Dagwood hanging in her throat.

Holding her breath, she leaned against the counter for support, uncertain of what to do about the burglar.

The light!

With a quivering hand, she reached out and cut the light, trying to be as quiet as possible.
