Painted Promises, an Online Romance by Sky Taylor  - Page 51 Karina sighed, her tummy growling at her again.   It was hours before breakfast and she was so famished that she returned to her room, slipped into the sheer outer full-length covering  that served to partially conceal the thin gown, then headed downstairs. The manor was so grand that she doubted she could possibly disturb anyone.   However, a night light or a flashlight would have been welcomed. Carefully making her way down the long flight of stairs, she followed the moonlit trail to the kitchen, her thoughts a combination of the beauty she had just captured on her balcony, and the grumbling of her tummy. The refrigerator was packed with goodies - everything from peanut butter to chocolate cake.   And milk. All this food, and she had almost starved to death!   She had hit the Cholesterol Jackpot! Karina poured a tall glass of the milk and sliced off a wedge of the chocolate cake, making a mess of things as she hungrily attacked the cake. Then wasting no time, she began compiling a dagwood from the bin of assorted cheeses, meats and the loaf of French bread that she discovered in one of the cupboards.   At least the cake had served to quell her immediate hunger.
