Moon Over Sea, A Quick Book Romance by Sky Taylor - Page 5 “This is he,” Eric responded, settling into the chocolate-colored leather chair, assuming this was yet another wild goose chase. He had decided that the situation was hopeless and was even beginning to doubt the saneness of offering a reward - a large one at that. He’d had more calls than the Smokies had mountains - all dead ends. Sooner or later, he had to face reality. His beloved Chi-Chi may not be coming back. And not knowing what happened to her was almost more than he could bear. “This is Jordan Andrews from Longview. Mr. Grayson, I know that you’ve had a lot of false leads on Chi-Chi, but I have good news. Not ten minutes ago, she showed up at my front door.” Eric stood, his heart hammering in his chest. But he had went through this same scenario so many times over the last two weeks - and it was best not to get his hopes back up again. “Are you sure?” he asked, his voice a notch deeper as seriousness settled in. “Mr. Grayson, I’m holding Chi-Chi as we speak. Her collar - that’s how I got your number.” Jordan paused, then rectified, “Then again, your number has been all over the news. But I assure you - " She halted as her father stepped through the front door, then she called out to him, “Father! Over here quickly! It’s Chi-Chi!” Her father made haste, quickly extracting Chi-Chi from his daughter's trembling embrace. His office had been very aware of the lost Chi-Chi and a day hadn't gone by that it had not entered into daily conversation.
