After grabbing a quick breakfast of toast and jam she headed for the office. There was no sign of either Brandy or Banner; she suspected that the young girl was still sleeping away the early morning hours and Banner had already left to work the Ranchero.

As she proceeded to the west wing leading to the office Bertha bounded from a doorway and stopped short upon seeing her.

It was an awkward moment and Cadence chose to break the ice. "Good morning.  Has-has Banner mentioned anything about cleaning the office-"

"Don't think you can order me around, Ms. Grant!" she warned, her black eyes two fiery darts. "My orders come from Mr. Yates. He mentioned the office before he took off this morning but I will warn you now that I refuse to tackle that room until the paperwork has been cleared."

Cadence drew a hand to her throat, embarrassed for Bertha over her hateful attitude.
