"Ms. Grant?" he had inquired, his tone sounding clipped and impatient.

When her chestnut-colored eyes seized his face, she gasped as she noted the angry, malicious look he had applied for her benefit, the gesture marring his handsomeness.

She was certainly aware that she was unwelcome now and her puzzlement grew over the hostility she had received from the housekeeper and now from whom she assumed to be Mr. Yates, her Uncle's boss and friend. If her suspicion was correct, Mr. Yates was years younger than what she had assumed. He looked to be in his early thirties, perhaps late twenties, nothing near her uncle's own age.
