The woman led her into a large room, then held out a stiff hand towards the expensive oxford chair.  "Wait here.  I'll collect Mr. Yates - and I assure you that he's not going to be happy. The sooner this situation is remedied, the better," she snapped, then she closed the large French doors sealing Cadence inside the massive library.

So many books; why it would take one's lifetime to consume such knowledge, Cadence considered in silence as she tried to ignore her parched lips.

In her haste to Apache Ranchero she had foregone a drink before leaving the large city. In fact, she had not taken a meal since Wednesday, day before yesterday. The trip had been expensive, leaving virtually no funds for anything except transportation.

She was still making out book titles from where she was seated when a deep voice greeted her from across the room.

Cadence turned, startled by the intruder for she had not heard him enter. Then she was suddenly reminded of the plush, thick carpeting in the library.
