She averted her head toward the strange voice. The man was elderly, bearing a cap of snow-white hair. Banner loomed behind him, his expression anxious looking.

"I'm Doctor Hilton," he told her with a smile as he drew up one of her fragile wrists and began monitoring her pulse. He continued, "Are you feeling better, dear?"

Managing a stiff nod, she drew her free hand to her head and mumbled, "What happened? Why am I here - at what I assume to be Apache Ranchero?"

Doctor Hilton released her hand and said, "Yes, you are at the Ranchero. Banner found you by the roadside, lucky for you I should add. Cadence, you almost had a heatstroke. You're still suffering from heat exhaustion. If Banner had not happened by, I cannot fathom what your fate would have been. I am willing to go as far to say that he may have saved your life."
