Her head now throbbed and her thoughts were hazy, Cadence considering it was from the lack of food these past few days or from the damnable Texas heat. Her mouth felt so parched...so dry.

A large oak suddenly loomed in the distance; finally a place to catch some shade. If she were lucky - and it was certainly due, she may find an available seat on the bus route to Sweetwater.  She might....she just might have enough money for the trip.
