He walked away, taking a bench to remove his skates. Cadence was still observing him, having to admire his persistence in front of the unrelenting Banner.

How could she have allowed him to kiss her, Banner questioned with open disgust. She should have protested. Why didn't she?

She jumped as he was suddenly beside her, ordering, "Turn in your skates and I'll arrange a ride home. And be quick about it. As far as I am concerned, the sooner we leave, the better."

A great sense of unhappiness assailed her. "I'm sorry you are so miserable. I enjoyed skating immensely."

She watched Taj and Rob as they exited the building, almost wishing that Banner had not intruded on their lovely evening. She felt nothing for Rob except friendship but their interlude on the ice was unforgettable.
