& Leather (94

Shiloh stood beside Lane's tall form waving her father
off as he disappeared into the shadows in the distance, the ancient stagecoach
bouncing along the trail.
But she didn't know quite what to think when Lane eased out, "Alone
at last, sweet Shiloh."

The
Concubine (25

Kade narrowed his eyes at her through the sunglasses as she attacked again,
her mouth so sunburned that it looked like a blow fish. One that wouldn't
shut up.
"I-I can't believe you told them I was your-your concubine! And-and
your accent was horrendous. I don't see how they managed to swallow your
shallow act," she mused incredulously, trying desperately to
cope with the lie that Kade had managed only moments ago to the three strangers.

Pirates
of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest
An
Independent Movie Review by Sky Taylor
A devoted
fan of the first Pirate's movie, Curse of th e Black Pearl, perhaps I had extremely high aspirations
for Dead Man's Chest as I entered the quaint
little theater with the uncomfortable chairs from hell.
As the scent
of hot buttered popcorn filled the theater, I craved
seeing Jack Sparrow's humor and wit, his quaint and
dainty walk as he sashayed across the screen, and a
foxy plot that had been evident in the last Pirate's
flick. Unfortunately, this film needed much more
DEPP.
It's not
that the film didn't try; perhaps it tried too hard.
Oh it began so beautifully with delicate rain
splashing on the fragile abandoned china cups, the remnants
of Will Turner's and Elizabeth Swan's unrequited wedding
day. From there the story became a twisted muddle
of birds plucking eyes from prisoner's heads, men getting
their throats slashed with rusty looking knives, an octopus-like
creature turned King Kong of the Seas - and Will's beautiful
backside becoming flayed by a snake-like whip by his
father-himself who then claimed he had done his son
a favor. Huh? Particularly with Davy Jones
wincing with each inflicted whip-lash.
Dead
Man's Chest also lacked the humor that made Black
Pearl so special and enduring. Jack Sparrow
was as magnificent as ever, but he seemed more like
a secondary character than the star. Will Turner
appeared to have far more screen time, and frankly I
was getting tired of seeing a crew of monster-pirates
that looked more like boils than scary pirates. I
just wanted to squeeze them off the screen.
The Black
Pearl awed the audience as skeletons came to life
upon the pirate's ship. In Dead Man's Chest,
it was as if the supernatural ruled. Surely the
special effects crew must be related to the producer,
because the special effects overpowered the script.
Perhaps
it was the uncomfortable movie theater. Perhaps
my expectations had been far too high for the sequel.
I wanted to love the movie; after all Jack Sparrow
- the worm that he is, was my pirate hero.
And Elizabeth....beautiful
Elizabeth, the image of the perfect heroine who unfortunately
betrayed the beloved Jack Sparrow. That hurt and
I don't suppose that I'll ever feel quite the same about
the untrustworthy Elizabeth, who now is certainly unworthy
of the honorable Will Turner. I'd like to see
how they plan to fix this.
So would
I go again to see Dead Man's Chest? Certainly
- but only to catch those minimal moments of Jack Sparrow's
handsomely-devilish form flashing across the screen,
as well as to know what leads up to the next Pirate's
movie - for surely there will be a sequel to tie up
all the dead-ends.
In short,
Dead Man's Chest slowly massages the audience and brings
them to the edge of a sequel leaving more questions
than answers, and a hunger for more Depp.

Arizona Angels
- (95 pages)
Throwing the door open she encountered Bowie's towering form, his large arm extended, Lee dangling in mid air
like a large spider. Lynx gasped, her hands going out to rescue the squawking child.
"This demonic little hooligan was window peeping into the honeymoon cottages! God only knows what she saw, but she seemed quite satisfied," he went on, his eyes scorching over Lynx's shocked face. click

Saddle
Tramp - (47

Her smile instantly died as she spied the pair of red panties blowing in the summer
breeze from the clothesline next to the house.
Worse yet, Vic had the audacity to join them and when she turned, his eyes
were fixed upon her panties.
To hide her embarrassment, she tensed her lips and told him in a tight tone,
"Cameo's."
Vic stifled a laugh, knowing full-well who the owner of those hot, red panties
were. Cameo couldn't fit into them if her life depended upon it. Even
so, he made a note to do his own laundry during his stay. Wouldn't be good for the cowboys
to see his undergear flying in the breeze. click
