Icy Moon, a Free Online Love Story by Sky Taylor - Page 2
“What!” “The little lady moved her things into Grandma’s cottage this morning. Had a bit of trouble getting one large crate into the door though, so lucky I was around to help her,” Wesley eased out with a thoughtful glance, his headache temporarily forgotten. To the sudden span of silence he continued, “She is musically inclined. I figure it’s a tuba. Crate was really large, boss.” “I’d like to crate you,” Hunter mumbled beneath his breath, Wesley stiffening in the process. He suddenly felt inclined to defend, “Look - I was out front working when I noticed a car parked at Grandma’s cottage, so of course I went to investigate. Poor little thang, her face was all concerned-looking, practically panic-stricken. Appears that she had to move asap and she’s been unable to find a spot to light.” “Once that tuba gets to blowing through these meadows, I imagine that we’ll feel much the same,” Hunter countered, totally fed up with his foreman’s too-kind heart. There were rules in life and Wesley had broken every one of them over the course of his fifty years of life. “What ya so all-fired up about? Tuba’s not like to blow out all the cows’ eardrums,” Wesley decided to inform, although he had to wonder if his input was solid. And what would a cow with a blowed-out eardrum look like, he had to ask himself. He and Hunter abruptly turned as the front door popped open and Grandma appeared on the wraparound porch, a flyswatter in her hand. She looked like a giant moth holding a sword, Hunter decided as his dark eyes scored up and down her hard-headed form.
