His apartment was very tidy for a man. The rooms were filled with some of the most intriguing artwork she'd ever glimpsed; it was a regular gallery of portraits. She was fascinated with one particular canvas; an American Indian dressed in battle gear.

"Mark, did you paint this? Rather all of these," she amended, her hand gesturing towards the paintings scattered all about the room.

Mark shook his head, handing her the freshly brewed cup of coffee. He motioned her to sit on the couch, then after she had settled he told her, "I'm an artist. I specialize in portraits. Pretty good, huh?"

Lace wasn't sure if he was referring to the coffee or the paintings. "Good? No, much more than that. They're aspiring - wonderful works of art. Mark, you're very talented."
