Where the Four Winds Meet, a Humorous Western Super Romance - Page 53
Her mind reeled as he whispered her name against her lips, his hands tangled in her white-gold hair, caressing her neck. She was in sheer ecstasy and had never felt this way with any man before - not even Sonny....
Her eyes flew open and she came plunging down to earth, jerking free from Leif's shocked, disappointed form.
Glancing at his confused, drawn brow she went to slap him hard across the face, then refrained at the last moment - the mature woman that she was.
His hand went up to grace the spot where she would have bull's eyed him, then he narrowed his eyes at her like some Svengali, Farrell stumbling back in the process and falling over her medical bag.
She scrambled to her feet, keeping her distance from Leif's angry form.
"So, you were teasing me, like you did Raider?" he decided, not pleased over her sudden, frostbitten demeanor. She was even more emotional than he was, he considered - feeling a bit like a confused female himself as he was lost in the Sea of Emotions without a deserted island in sight.
Farrell decided that her only escape was to do just that - escape. She ran like a deer for the opening of the stables, falling out into the bright sunshine feeling like a physical and emotional wreck. A scream escaped her lips as she plummeted into Bean's rock-hard form.
Instantly, he steadied her, his eyes squinting against the sun. He smelled soured from his adventure with his homemade corn whiskey, but nonetheless Farrell clung to him for protection as Leif exited the stable.
"Afternoon, Mr. Nighthorse," Bean slowly eased out, tipping his hat in gentlemanly fashion, seeming unaware of Farrell's brush with the Fate Monster.
"Bean," Leif's deep voice echoed, the dark eyes never leaving Farrell's frightened form.
She was breathless and worn completely down and it was all Leif's fault. And of course, the sexually-contorted Terry Raider.
"Came to fetch Farrell for lunch. That is.....if you are through with her. We happen to fancy her cookin'," Bean informed, his hand clamping around her small shoulder which she was certain that Leif had bruised.
