She tensed her pink lips with irritation as she had caught the fly smack dab in the middle of the ointment. "I'm not sure, Sonny. It could be a while. Perhaps all of summer."

"Yes, it might take time to trick someone into buying out the decaying project there," Sonny rolled off carelessly. "But I won't have you go through it alone, Farrell. This is the last time I'll disappoint you. When my exams are completed, I'll come join you there," he suddenly decided and Farrell could almost visualize the dollar signs etched in Sonny's eyes.

He continued, "By the way, you passed with flying colors. Only you could charm your professors into taking early exams."

"They were all sympathetic to my situation, Sonny," she told him, thinking that he wasn't. He sure had slithered nicely out of finding a way to join her.

"Well, graduating was a technicality where you are concerned, Farrell. You've been practicing for a couple of years now, but this makes it official. Now you can strike out on your own with no one having to look over your shoulders."

Sonny believed that she had intentions of selling out and following her dream, but she couldn't - not after her sacred promise to her great grandfather. She would never forgive herself.
