He gazed up, then nodded towards Lisa as he eased out, "Right now, I’m more concerned about your granddaughter. You’re a ripe-old stubborn cuss, and as demonstrated in the waiting room, not a particularly good patient."

Jedadiah straightened, Lisa deciding that at this moment he looked like a large baby eaglet, and again she was glad that the good doctor had pointed out his stubbornness.

Dr. Luke continued, "And lucky you as my pretty nurse will be with you shortly for a happy shot. Should take care of all your problems."

He then ignored Jedadiah’s protests and as he continued to grumble, Dr. Luke stepped out in the hallway then quickly returned, this time centering his attentions on Lisa.

He asked her, "Looks like you’ve had your hands full."

"I have at that, but once you get to know him…..well, he’s very loveable," she smiled.

Dr. Luke delivered a deep chuckle, glad that she had a sense of humor.

As they continued their conversation, Jedadiah continued to gripe and grumble then suddenly stopped as an elderly nurse entered the room, a syringe on a tiny tray.

"Well, well," he mumbled. "Doc said you were pretty, but that’s an understatement," the nurse blushing in the process.

"Shall we leave them to their privacy?" Dr. Luke asked, Lisa nodding and delivering another smile as she rose and slipped her arm through his crooked elbow.

Ten minutes later Lisa and her grandfather were on their way home, Jedadiah bragging, "Nice lookin’ nurse."

"Nice looking doctor, too," she smiled.

"I got a date," he beamed.

"So did I."

Jedadiah jerked his head around to view his lovely granddaughter at the wheel.

"Why gal, you’re a chip off the old block," he laughed. As he reverted his gaze to the road ahead, he eased out, "I’m feeling really good right now. May have snow on the roof, but I‘ve got a fire in the furnace. Why I’m the wolf of the world!"

As he delivered a playful howl, Lisa giggled as she silently decided what she was going to wear on her date with the handsome Dr. Luke…..

Dr. Luke was walking Nurse Lydia to her car, deciding it had been a very good day. He had delivered a new life into the world, and then he’d met an angel.

"As a note, that old leather-bag asked me out on a date," Nurse Lydia told him, giggling like a silly schoolgirl in the process.

"You accepted?"

"Oh yes. He’s quite handsome, don’t you think?"

Dr. Luke smiled, and shook his head as he told her, "Well, I better be nice and say - yeah, he’s a handsome devil. After all, if I have any say-so in the matter, he’s the grandfather of my future bride……"
