Shannon gazed down at the envelope, hating herself for deceiving this kind woman. She was but a mere stranger yet Helen had accepted her almost instantly - going as far to trust her with money which she hadn't yet earned.

And she had probably given her the money out of pity, because Helen believed that she was widowed.

Helen carefully told her, " The station has many visitors, dear, and sometimes the dress code usually falls to formal -"

" But, I'll be in uniform," she hastily reminded. " I -"

" Oh no," Helen shook her head. " No uniform here, dear. You'll not be considered a servant, more like a member of the household. I did not lie to you earlier. That is why I chose you, because I like you. Now scoot and prepare for your transfer to the station."

Shannon looked skeptically at the fat envelope. There was probably more money enclosed then she had saved over the months to make this journey. Helen certainly trusted her not to jump ship with the loot. And Shannon felt a bit guilty over Helen's 'did not lie' comment.
