She had stopped brushing her silvery hair now and held the brush extended in a clenched fist, her knuckles white, her breasts as swollen as her anger and Diamond didn't miss the sideshow for her chest was the center of his focus.

Then he suddenly stood, arms akimbo, his face seeming to mellow a bit.

Surprise settled over her when he openly admitted, "I was a bit rough with you last night. I'm not used to having soft, fragile women around, not in this wilderness." He paused and brought one of his hands up to scrub the back of his neck, then sighed deeply. "And I'm sorry for hurting you, Josie. It won't happen again."

He cursed when she spat back, "Frightened of Kent, are you? Trying to smooth things over before he rides in and reaps vengeance?"

She jumped back and was puzzled when he suddenly asked, "You wouldn't happen to have a picture of him with you? I'd like to see just what I'm up against."

She swallowed hard and nodded, laying down her brush to begin digging through her bag, then she pulled out her wallet.   Kent's smiling face was in the front slot and she extracted it, then lifted it up to him, quite proud of the photo of her beloved.

Diamond studied the photo in silence, then drawled in a mocking tone, "Looks like a damned renegade to me. A spoiled little rich boy. And not too handsome either."
