She stiffened as the dark head went back and pealed out an infectious laugh, his white teeth glinting in the sun. Unfortunately for him, Josie was immune to his callous laugh. "Go ahead and laugh, Mr. Faregate. While you still have the time!" It took him a while to sober and when he finally did, he drawled, "I'm shaking in my boots, Josie! Scared as hell of your outraged boyfriend." His eyes were wide and extended, openly mocking her and he looked completely insane. "You will see," she promised, rising from her spot. Then she headed for her clean clothes that still lay by the stream. She checked over her clothing for signs of fire ants, then sought out Diamond's foreboding frame. He was kneeling by the campfire striking up another fire. She took advantage of the moment and slipped out of his shirt and into her clean jeans and blue cotton top. Her undergear was dry now, although stiff from her swim in the stream. When she walked back over to join him, she practically slung his shirt at him, glad to be free of the smelly object. Ever so gently, she plopped down on the bedroll and began searching through one of her bags for a brush. When she had located one and was briskly sending it through her long, thick matt of hair, she tensed as she discovered Diamond's eyes latched curiously onto her.
