Diamond narrowed his eyes at her and drawled, "So you are staying now? What happened to your great escape plan?" Josie rose and dusted off her legs, a pain shooting across her bottom due to her sudden movements. She yelped, then recovered swiftly, not wanting any sympathy from him. Not that he would have offered any. "Oh yes. I'm staying, but I can't say for how long." "Oh?" She coolly studied his face and went on to inform, "I assume that Simon filled you in? He told you why he left me here among the buzzards, the heat of hell and you?" she mocked, using his own words against him. Diamond nodded and cautiously blinked as if he didn't trust her. Imbecile! It was the other way around. She couldn't trust him. She licked her dry lips and continued, "Obviously, Simon has no idea just how devoted Kent is to me. The man absolutely adores the ground that I walk on," she tacked on with confidence. "When Simon reaches home, it won't take long for Kent to squeeze the information out of him. Kent will come and rescue me and-and will probably kill you for treating me so-so cruelly."
