Quickly, Ruth closed the distance, wrapping her son in a bear hug, Bret's face looking almost blue for a moment Kassi considered as she looked on from the sidelines. As Ruth pulled away from him, she announced, "And I've brought you a wonderful present!" Bret lifted his brows, Kassi's presence going undetected as she had moved closer to study the vase, Bret's backside in front of her.
"God help me," Bret drawled in a mocking tone. "You didn't drag back a corncob pipe, did you Mother?" "Oh something much better," Ruth giggled, going to Kassi and spinning her around as Bret curiously turned. "A cook! A blue ribbon cook!"
