It had taken a year and a half to coax her into accepting his dinner invitation. A smile touched Jay’s freshly shaven face as he contemplated how he had gotten from Point A to Point B.
At times he’d felt like a Great Grackle wooing a disinterested female…dragging his wings on the ground, opening his beak and screeching in his best voice while feeling totally ridiculous in the process - but finally his perseverance had paid-off.
Initially, he had asked her out to a fine restaurant for dinner, but her public notoriety and popularity would not accommodate such - or so Vivian had assured. No, they would dine at his manor - Jay’s Victorian manor which he’d just moved into. Today, he’d finally put his art studio in order and actually felt at home for the first time in the manor….but not in the kitchen. Never in the kitchen. It wasn’t his forte.
Vivian would be arriving shortly - about an hour from now and everything was in place just as she had instructed. ‘Yes on the salad - but no on the meat’, she had specified - claiming she had to watch her figure and that the big-screen already added ten false pounds.
Jay didn’t exactly agree with her self-philosophy as her figure looked quite perfect to him. Nonetheless, salad was fine with him as he couldn’t cook anyway. The majority of his meals were taken out or purchased prepared at the market. How could one possibly screw-up a bowl of greens? Then again, what could this 'inept male cook' possibly do to vamp-up a bowl of greens?
His thoughts swayed from his culinary challenge back to Vivian as they so-often did these days. It wasn’t that he was lacking admirers or willing conquests; Jay enjoyed the chase - and Vivian had been exactly that.
His mind drifted back to their first meeting. Fortunately, she was a frequent draw at one of the galleries which exhibited his art work. Such a beautiful - yes perfect woman he went on to speculate. He had been totally captivated by her beauty from the moment he had been introduced to her by Mitch, the owner of the art gallery.
Dark shiny hair, flawless tanned complexion, lovely features, emerald-colored eyes and the voice of an angel.
