Story Begins Here

"Ms. Jordon?" she eased out again, this time twisting the door knob, hoping that Ms. Jordon would excuse the intrusion. She had to find a resting place for the flowers before they rested her.

Perhaps Ms. Jordon was a bit hard of hearing, she went on to surmise.

"Excuse me. Ms. Jordon-"

Leslie gasped, her eyes colliding with the elderly lady who had collapsed on the oriental rug.

Immediately, she bolted into action, discarding the flowers on a tea cart, then rushing to the lady.

Not good.... She looked pale, motionless and then she blinked her eyes open and stared Leslie in the face.

Leslie almost screamed because she was still tainted with the eerie feeling from the ancestors looming in the hall, and she half-assumed that Ms. Jordon had expired on her.

"Please be alive," Leslie eased out, not knowing what else to do.

"My....heart medicine, dear," Ms. Jordon managed - or at least, that's whom Leslie assumed the woman to be.

With effort, Ms. Jordon lifted a hand and pointed toward a large desk.

Leslie reacted swiftly, collecting the prescription bottle, then quickly reading the recommended dosage.

There was an empty tea cup on the desk - but no water. And Ms. Jordon was holding her hand to her chest now. She needed the medication asap!

Leslie collected the flower arrangement and poured out some of the water into the cup, her hands shaking so badly that she was making a mess of the oriental rug.

She practically ran to Ms. Jordon, poked the two tablets under her tongue, then worked to force the water down her, hoping there wasn't any stray thorns in the mix.

She suddenly remembered that Alice at the flower shop sometimes added a flower freshener so that the flowers would last longer and Leslie prayed that there wasn't anything harmful if that were the case.

Ms. Jordon was finally able to speak, though she looked a mess as Leslie had saturated the poor soul with rose water.

"Dear," she managed. "The pills can be taken without water."

Leslie widened her blue eyes, feeling like an idiot now as she'd forced the woman to drink - rose water at that.

Oh my gosh....these rich people would probably sue the flower shop now!

Rather than concentrating on her fears, she told the woman, "I'll get help. Please hang in there, k?"

She nodded and Leslie ran to the phone, pressing the button that said 'Henry'.

"Is everything okay, Ms. Jordon?" he asked.

"No! She-she's collapsed, Henry! Please call an ambulance!" Leslie reeled out.

She slammed down the phone and returned to Ms. Jordon who looked even worse than before. She was turning blue and Leslie hoped to God it wasn't a reaction from the rose water. Or a loose thorn.

"What should I do? Move you to somewhere more comfy?" she asked her.

Ms. Jordon's eyes grew three sizes and she managed to shake her head, then she suddenly collapsed.

"Oh God! I've drowned her!" Leslie yelled out to the empty room.

"Okay....calm down," she ordered herself.
