Ace could see why Jack was infatuated with the woman - she was beautiful. But the beauty had no heart, particularly where Jack Sneed was concerned. And Jen had been very frisky amid her divorce quest, frequently making it a point to touch his bare arm as she explained how rotten a husband Jack had been. The ‘never there for me’ scenario, Ace mocked in recollection. Sometimes, he felt that most people seeking divorces simply needed a good listener. Although she spoke poorly of her husband, Ace felt there was something still there - some thread of love, wistfulness or regret - something he couldn’t quite pinpoint. And as he’d silently listened to Jen, he held high suspicions that she’d end up like many newly-divorced females by turning into a barnyard rooster, topping all the hens - only the hens would be men.
