I suppose that I assumed such due to the incident in the stables." "It's okay," she told him, a knot in her throat. Obviously Jordan didn't give a lick about her or he would have said something to stop the rendezvous. Lifting her chin a notch, she said, "Besides, I'm in already in love with someone else. Rowdy - or any other man for that matter, would be totally out of the question." Jordan snapped to life, his deep blue eyes stirring with his thoughts. "You're in love?" "Oh yes," she assured, fanning herself with the events brochure from the horse show, finding that it was growing rather warm amid Jordan's too-curious question. "I didn't know that," he managed, her statement stabbing him right where it hurt - in the bull's eye of his heart. He suddenly knew exactly how the moon-faced Betty Jean felt. Kayla's eyes collided with his deep blue ones as she eased out, "Neither does he, it seems." Then, "Now if you will excuse me, I have a need to get out of this heat." Jordan nodded, very thoughtful over her confession - a total mass of confusion at that. He turned with low spirits to collect the Appaloosas and had walked all the way back to the arena area before he turned and rushed to find Kayla. He had to know - and he didn't care if it cost him his pride, or not.
