If he'd been involved, he would have exploded given the same situation. Yeah, he supposed that if she weighed five-hundred pounds and was covered in seed warts he'd still love her, Jordan went on to decide. But now with Kayla positioned as the bull's eye on Rowdy's invisible dart board, he supposed that a romantic relationship was out of the question. He had hoped that the drifter would have moved out of town before time had presented this ample opportunity. Jordan loved her so much that if he couldn't have her, he sure didn't want to see her get her heart broken. Betty Jean was the laughing stock of the county, still drooling over the unattainable Rowdy after he had used and discarded her like a proud-cut horse. It appeared that Betty Jean wasn't quite good enough for the affair had lasted only a handful of days. And one of these days, Rowdy was going to make a quick stop and Betty Jean would end up flying up his bottom-end, head first. The lady was making a fool of herself. His hesitance on the matter rested with the lady herself, for how could he continue to be around her twenty-four seven without striking up a romance? Unlike the handsome drifter, he had marriage in mind - a houseful of kids with Kayla's good looks and personality. Yes, moving into the main house had been a mistake, even though their relationship was nothing more than business.
