Spelling Bea A short love story by Sky Taylor Abby viewed little Bea's spelling paper with an open mouth, shocked at what she saw. She could only imagine the poor child's home-life. It was painful, viewing something so right being so wrong she decided as she studied the word hail spelled out in red crayon: HELL. Cringing, her eyes moved to ape: AIP. And cat: KAT. Placing the paper on her desk, she began tapping her long manicured nails against the wood. She couldn't wait for Bea's uncle to arrive, which he should be doing most any moment. Everything had been absolutely peachy with Bea until her mother had up and joined the armed services two months ago. Her brightest student, in fact. From what Abby had understood from Bea, her mother had met a hunky soldier, divorced her father and was in hot pursuit of the soldier. To give her father time to recover, Bea's uncle was providing a temporary home. And it was going to take some work, getting the child's grades in check so that she could graduate to the next level. "Ms Walton?" the deep voice echoed from the doorway, Abby gazing up, her eyes colliding with a dark-haired gentleman dressed in jeans and a khaki-colored shirt. Rising, she went to greet him as she eased out, "Mr. Smith?" Well, handsome or not, she still intended to give him a piece of her mind. In her opinion, he had no business raising a child - even if the situation was temporary. "Nice to meet you," Gil drawled, wishing he'd brought an apple for teacher. Pretty lady. Nice of her to want to meet and discuss Bea, too. He appreciated someone on the ball. Once they had settled around the small table, Abby attempted to tackle the touchy situation in a diplomatic manner. Handing Mr. Smith his niece's spelling paper, she spoke as he reviewed, "As you can see, Bea has some major spelling issues." "Yes, I agree," Gil eased out, a bit disturbed at what he was seeing scrawled out in Bea's hen scratch. "She won the state spelling bee last year-" "Yes, I am aware of that," Abby assured. "And her handwriting looks pitiful," Gil went on to comment. He gazed up into Abby's beautiful face, then asked, "So what do you think the problem might be? She has always been such a bright child." Then, "I'm willing to help in any way that I can." Abby inhaled a deep breath, then commented, "Well, losing her mother to that soldier didn't help matters-" "She told you about that?" Gil asked, lifting his brows in the process, a bit perturbed that Bea was so eager to share the family secrets. Then again, he remembered getting quite close to a few of his teachers in his day as a young lad.

Brand a Cowboy - {19 pages) "Jenna, this doesn't mean that we can't date - or that we still can't be friends," Buck tried to point out, never seeing her so uncooperative. Generally she was as good as gold, agreeing with most everything he suggested. Except for moving in with him and the sex factor, he tacked on in thought. "Just not girlfriend and boyfriend," she mocked, stomping her booted foot in the process against the dirt floor of the barn. click to read English Ivy - {16 pages) "Why yes," she managed, batting her eyes swiftly over the handsome male who had rescued her. He wasn't overly tall, yet the white Stetson he was wearing made him appear as such. From what she could glimpse beneath the hat, he had a mop of blond hair which was nowhere near a military cut. More like an American hippie from the history pages of yesteryear, she went on to decide amid her analysis. The golden tan, the flashing white teeth and the shadow of a beard soared up Ivy's flared nostrils as she drank in the fresh air mixed with he-man. read
